- This short-legged, plump bird uses its long bill to prove for earthworms and other invertebrates, spending time during the day in the woodlands and evenings in open areas.
- The males unique mating display includes a nasal beeping call on the ground combined with a spiral aerial display.
- After a brief presentation, go outside to look and listen for "dancing" male woodcocks.
- Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.
