Full Tournament Season Planned at Springbrook and Naperbrook Golf Courses

Springbrook and Naperbrook Golf Courses have opened for play and plan to host a full tournament schedule for the 2021 golf season. Staff at both courses will continue to follow local guidance and protocols relative to COVID-19 to keep participants safe.

The 2021 Brooks Tournament Series, presented by FBC Remodel, includes the following events:

  • Partner Best-Ball Challenge, April 10 at Naperbrook. Open to amateur golfers ages 18 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by April 4. Food sponsor is Belgio’s Catering.
  • Brooks Team Championship, May 15-16 at Springbrook and Naperbrook. Open to amateur golfers ages 18 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by May 9. Food sponsor is Sharko’s BBQ.
  • Senior Partner Championship, May 19 at Springbrook. Open to amateur golfers ages 55 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by May 13. Food sponsor is Sharko’s BBQ.
  • Naperville Junior Amateur Championship, July 12 at Naperbrook. Open to amateur golfers between 9 and 17 years of age. Register by July 5.
  • Naperville Men’s Amateur Championship, July 24-25 at Springbrook and Naperbrook. Open to amateur golfers ages 18 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by July 18. Food sponsors are McAlister’s Deli and Texas Roadhouse.
  • Couple’s Glow Ball Scramble, August 6 at Naperbrook. Open to golfers ages 18 and up. Register by August 1. Food sponsor is Jimmy John’s.
  • Springbrook Women’s Invitational, August 9 at Springbrook. Open to female amateur golfers ages 21 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by August 2.
  • Glen Ekey Senior Amateur Championship, August 18-19 at Springbrook and Naperbrook. Open to amateur golfers ages 55 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by August 11. Food sponsor is Texas Roadhouse.
  • Senior Fall Scramble, September 2 at Naperbrook. Open to amateur golfers ages 55 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by August 26. Food sponsor is Belgio’s Catering.
  • Glow Ball Scramble, September 11 at Springbrook Golf Course. Open to golfers ages 18 and up. Register by September 5.
  • Fall Scramble, October 9 at Springbrook. Open to golfers ages 18 and up with a USGA handicap. Register by October 3. Food sponsor is Sharko’s BBQ.
  • Turkey Shoot, November 21-22 at Springbrook and Naperbrook. Open to golfers ages 18 and up. Registration information and details will be available later this year.

On Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 Naperville Park District officials heard the good news for which they have been waiting for many months: the District has achieved national accreditation through the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA).

The decision was announced at the NRPA national conference in Atlanta following a formal hearing before the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).

Naperville is only the second park district in Illinois to earn this distinction and the 104th nationally accredited agency in the nation; there are more than 10,000 recreation agencies in the United States. The Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies accredits a handful of park agencies each year that have completed a multi-step process involving a self-review by the agency, a site visit, and an evaluation and formal report by the Commission.

“We are extremely proud to bring this honor to Naperville,” said Park District Executive Director Ray McGury. “It’s an affirmation of our high standards and also an encouragement to continue bringing high quality recreation and parks experiences to our community.”

The Park District’s accreditation process began approximately one year ago and included an extensive self-evaluation by staff and a 5-day visit from CAPRA reviewers this past July. Maintaining the accreditation requires annual reports and 5- and 10-year reviews.

Park District staff members noted that the CAPRA process has helped them see the big picture, focus on long term goals and plans, review plans more regularly, organize documents so that they are accessible and useable, and collaborate more effectively with other departments and outside organizations.
