Donation to Support Future Pickleball Courts at Frontier Sports Complex

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and in Naperville. Recently, Naperville Park District received word of a private donation toward the construction of new pickleball courts on the east side of Frontier Sports Complex.

The donation, in the amount of $100,000, is being given by Jim Rothermel to support the construction of pickleball courts at the Park District’s largest sports complex, where families and individuals of all ages can enjoy a variety of amenities including picnic areas, trails, athletic fields, a skate park, playgrounds and more.  Frontier Sports Complex is easily accessible from major roadways in south Naperville, provides parking and is adjacent to Neuqua Valley High School.

“This generous donation will allow the Park District to build more courts to accommodate the ever-expanding interest in pickleball,” said Executive Director Ray McGury. “Pickleball is popular with active older adults but is a game that can be enjoyed by all ages. We look forward to seeing more kids enjoy this game along with their families.”

In recognition of the donation, the Park District intends to name the new pickleball courts “The Rothermel Family Pickleball Courts.” Following Naperville Park District board policy, the board will wait for 60 days before voting on the proposed naming of the future pickleball courts.
