Muskrat Love

All summer long we have been seeing a pair of muskrats, and their young, swimming around in our creek and pond!

  • Muskrats are often spotted in our pond.
  • But this is the first year we have seen babies - they were swimming in the creek.
  • A member of the rodent family, muskrats sometimes get mistaken for beavers.
  • But instead of a broad, flattened beaver tail, they have a laterally flattened tail that looks more like a rat's tail.
  • Check back soon. We will try to get a video of the muskrat family!
