Did you know that Fishing is allowed in our Parks?

Want to go Fishing?

Anyone can fish in Naperville Park District ponds and the two branches of the DuPage River.

If you are 16 and older you must obtain a fishing license, but anyone 15 and under can fish for free.

You can obtain a fishing license online or in local stores. For a list of local stores/vendors selling licenses click here.

The state offers a free fishing tackle loaner program so you can try out fishing without having to purchase the equipment! Click here to get a list of participating loan locations.

Please note: Rules and regulations for fishing are set by the Illiniois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). Here's the 2019 Illinois Fishing Information guide.

And please remember to fish responsibly by throwing out your empty bait containers and removing any fishing line that might endanger the local wildlife.

The Knoch Knolls Nature Center also offers fishing programs for children ages 5-11, with a parent, and for scout groups.
During these programs we provide all the necessary equipment for fishing.
Check out our Fishin' Kids programs offered in the spring/summer.

Several of the fish in our 935 gallon aquarium were caught onsite. We obtained a special license from the IDNR to collect these animals. Several of the sunfish where caught in the West Branch of the DuPage River; the Crappie and Bullhead (catfish) were caught in the pond right behind the nature center.
