The skate facility at Frontier Sports Complex was renovated in the summer of 2021. The Park District identified that the equipment had reached the end of its lifecycle due to typical wear and needed to be replaced.

The Park District began planning for the renovations in 2020, first by consulting with American Ramp Company to ensure that the project will be relevant and current in regard to design, equipment and usage in order to meet the needs of the skating community. American Ramp Company is owned and operated by skateboarding enthusiasts and the District selected them for the project considering their 20+ years of experience designing and building skate parks across the US and internationally. Their representatives collaborated with Park District staff to conduct an initial survey to understand the desires of skaters in the community relative to skate facility design. The resulting design is a reflection of input received to create a facility that will be accessible for all ages and abilities.

The construction at Frontier Skate Park is complete.
