A Message from the Executive Director – Winter 2022

Dear Friends of the Naperville Park District:

Each of our quarterly Program Guides reflects several months of planning by staff to put together timely information about the upcoming season’s activities and events. The Winter 2022 Program Guide, available in digital form only, features recreation programs for all ages, Winter Break Camps, sledding and ice skating locations, and upcoming special events for the community. Looking ahead, two spring programs included in this upcoming edition include Spring Break Camps, offered the week of March 28-April 1, and Spring Naperville Youth Soccer, with practices beginning the week of March 28. Spring Naperville Youth Soccer registration begins December 14, so we encourage parents to register their children early, as teams fill quickly. Please also consider volunteering as a coach or assistant coach. Training and support are provided so that you can enjoy this opportunity to spend quality time with your child and have fun being part of the team experience.

One special event to note immediately after the holidays is the 2022 Community Job Fair on Saturday, January 8 at Fort Hill Activity Center from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., co-hosted by Naperville Park District and KidsMatter. This free event is intended for a variety of job seekers, from students to retirees, and we hope that college students who are home on winter break will take advantage of this opportunity to begin seeking summer employment and internships. Job seekers will be able to speak with Park District staff and representatives from local businesses regarding their current and upcoming employment opportunities. At any time or in preparation for the Job Fair, those who are curious about current employment opportunities at the Park District may learn more and apply for a position at

January also marks the beginning of registration for the 2022-23 academic year for Naperville Park District preschool programs. The Park District offers two 9-month programs: the Preschool Academy and Toadstools & Pollywogs. The infographic included in the Winter 2022 Program Guide provides a handy reference for parents who are looking for a quality preschool, whether at the Park District or elsewhere.  Detailed information about our programs, age requirements and how to register can be found in the Winter 2022 Program Guide on pages 43-47. For questions about our preschool programs, contact Program Manager Sara Cass at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

In addition to our 9-month preschool programs, the Park District offers a variety of seasonal programs for young children in our Early Childhood section, including art, music, parent-child experiences and preschool preparation classes.

Finally, as the holiday season approaches, on behalf of our board and staff, I want to express my gratitude for our community partners, sponsors, volunteers, and all our residents who enjoy the parks and programs we offer all year long. A special thanks to those who have participated in Park District initiatives to support the varied needs of our residents including our Fee Assistance Program, the Community Christmas Lunch, Pennies for Pies, Toys for Tots, Operation Support Our Troops, and our Remembrance program. In so many ways, your generosity enriches the community we share.

Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season!

Be well,

Ray McGury
