Drawing, cutting and collaging techniques will be explored. Bring a drawing or high-contrast photo on copy paper and we will find the negative space. If you have a favorite cutting instrument such as an X-Acto, bring it, or we will have some to share. All supplies will be provided for a fee of $10, payable to instructor at the first class. Participants will learn the history behind both observances and be inspired to draw, carve, and print their very own Day of the Dead print. Class work explores unity of form and surface treatment with more complex forms using texture, color, scale and series of objects. Although the class title is “Advanced”, only a beginning level of clay work and familiarity with the studio is required. Your inspiration may start with Pinterest, but you will leave the class with art that is uniquely yours. Bring your inspiration, sense of humor and desire to explore your creativity in an environment that fosters personal growth. Each participant receives an individual space to store work. The first class is held in the Visitor Center where you play the practice clavier. Please bring several prepared musical selections. The second session takes place in Moser Tower where you play the clavier that rings the 72-bells of the Carillon. Friends and family are welcome at your debut recital.
