A community open house was held at Meadow Glens Elementary School on April 15 to seek resident input on proposed improvements to Meadow Glens Park, located at 1303 Muirhead Ave. Click here for an aerial map showing the existing park. The Park District intends to apply for an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant to help fund upgrades and capital maintenance at the park. The improvements project would be submitted as a grant application by July 1, 2010, with a grant decision not expected until early 2011. If the grant application is successful, we anticipate that construction would begin in late July 2012.
Based on the comments received from residents, the Park District revised the site plan. Click here to see the revised site plan, which includes 2 basketball courts, a closed loop trail with a few fitness stations, a small shelter, a drinking fountain, a winter skating area, a few nature-based play pieces for children, such as climbing boulders, and a small restroom. The elements of the final site plan will depend on the amount of grant funding that we are able to obtain.
