Garden Plots

Nothing is quite as satisfying as planting seeds and seeing nature's blessing emerge through the soil - except possibly eating the harvest!  People who like to garden but don't have much space may want to sign up for one of the District's garden plots.  Large plots are approximately 19' X 30' and new in 2010 half-size plots measuring 15' x 19'.  We provide a limited number of watering spigots and trash containers.  Hand-held watering containers will be needed; no hoses are allowed.  Plant and seed purchases are the responsibility of each gardener.  New gardeners are assigned a plot based on space available.  This program is not available for online registration.

During the fall of 2009 the Park District completed site grading and expansion of the north section of garden plots located on West Street. The project resulted in a total of 495 garden plots available for the 2010 season, consisting of 459 full-size, 30 half-size, and 6 raised plots. Garden plots previously located in the south section of the site are no longer available for rent. In May the Park District determined that 23 additional plots (18 half-size and 5 full-size) could be added in the perimeter areas of the gardens.   This resulted in a total of 518 at the site.
