Trails
The Naperville Park District partners with many local/regional agencies and committees to promote trail development in Naperville and its outlying areas. Our ultimate goal is to connect local and regional trails throughout Naperville, with routes leading to the north, south, east and west. The District currently has 19.25 miles of trails for walking and biking spread over 29 of our park sites and we anticipate that 5.25 additional miles of trails will be added to our park sites in the future. Please view the trail map (.pdf) attachment that displays existing and proposed Park District trails (orange) in addition to the Forest Preserve trails (green) and City of Naperville routes (red).
The DuPage River Trail Committee, which was created in 2002, is a group of planning professionals representing various public agencies in DuPage and Will counties that have a vested interest in the planning and development of trails along the east and west branches of the DuPage River. The purpose of the committee is to: (1.) plan and develop a trail corridor to enhance the overall quality of life and provide safe recreational opportunities for the citizens of DuPage and Will counties; (2.) coordinate a plan that provides logical continuity and extensions of the DuPage River Trail system; and (3.) identify local trail connections to the DuPage River Trail system that are planned and/or developed by municipalities, park districts and forest preserves.
As a member of the committee, the Naperville Park District participates in regular meetings and has been involved in the development of a map illustrating over 19 miles of existing and future trail alignments for public use along the river. We invite you to view the attachment (.pdf) that displays this map.
