Frontier Sports Complex
2016 Park Improvement Updates:
Frontier Sports Complex Renovations
In 2016, renovations will begin to Frontier Sports Complex. Included in the scope of the work on the west end of the park is the addition of a parking lot with lighting, a new restroom facility and a trail along the roadway.
On the east end of the park, four soccer fields will be renovated with the use of lazer grading. The irrigation system, that is past its life cycle, will be replaced. An asphalt trail will be added from the east parking lot, through the soccer fields and terminating at the central parking lot. This will provide an accessible route through the park and to the sports fields.
Work is expected to start in late spring and finish up at the end of summer 2016.
Park District Recognized DuPage Medical Group for contribution of AEDs in Sports Complexes
Thanks to a generous donation from DuPage Medical Group, the Naperville Park District installed Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) units at Knoch Park and at Frontier Sports Complex. This brings the total number of AEDs to five that are available for use in the Park District’s larger parks. The City of Naperville’s Fire Department and the Naperville Park District collaborated to install the first three units at Nike Sports Complex and Commissioners Park in 2014.
The wall-mounted units house AEDs securely, are easily recognizable and include a call button to connect a user directly to a Public Safety Answering Point. If the dispatcher determines that the user is in need of the AED, they can release the door remotely from the dispatch center, while simultaneously dispatching Fire, EMS, and Police to the scene.
