The Park District hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday October 9 at Cress Creek Park.
The playground renovations were funded, in part, by a $50,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity with support from Representative Darlene Senger (R-96). The grant was authorized as part of the 2009 Park and Recreational Facility Construction Act (HB0313).
“Playgrounds and neighborhood parks are as important as sports complexes, but in different ways,” said Executive Director Ray McGury. “Grant support helps us continue to meet the recreational needs of our large community both in developing destination parks for everyone and smaller parks where neighbors can socialize and spend time outdoors with their children.”
"The Naperville Park District includes fantastic park facilities for Naperville residents. I was happy to see the Cress Creek playground receive this grant to enhance the park,” said Illinois State Representative Darlene Senger (R-96).
Design of the new playground was based on input from neighbors and includes state-of-the-art play equipment accessible to children of all abilities.
