Pies to benefit Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry’s Thanksgiving holiday food drive
The Naperville Park District’s preschool program will launch its 6th annual Pennies for Pies drive from November 1-15, 2012 to benefit Naperville’s Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry. The goal is to surpass last year’s total of 140 pies donated.
Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry aims to provide 2,000 families with Thanksgiving turkeys and all the trimmings. Naperville Park District preschoolers will be encouraged to bring in pennies and other small change during the first two weeks of November. “Each year the children and their families have been able to increase their support for this simple but effective way of helping others,” said Early Childhood Program Manager Sandie Gilmer.
Park District staff, local businesses, and the general public are invited to participate in the drive, contributing small change as well as larger donation amounts. Donations will be accepted at the Naperville Park District’s Administration Building at 320 W. Jackson Avenue through November 15, 2012. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon on Saturday.
All donations will be used to purchase pies for the Loaves & Fishes 2012 Thanksgiving food distribution.
