Master Plan draft ready for public review; Dec. 13 Open House

Draft of updated plan now available

Since the early years following its formation in 1966, the Naperville Park District has been guided by a comprehensive Master Plan that is updated periodically. At its November 8, 2012 special meeting, the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners discussed the most recent draft of the 2012 Master Plan, which is now ready for public comment and review.

The current draft of the Master Plan may be viewed here beginning Friday, November 9 through December 13. Residents may send comments to Director of Planning Eric Shutes at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. during this time.

Additionally, the community is invited to an open house on December 13 from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. immediately prior to the Park Board meeting to speak with staff and commissioners regarding the draft Master Plan.  The Open House will be held in the lobby of the Naperville Municipal Center at 400 South Eagle Street.

As with previous versions of the Master Plan, the 2012 draft is based on the established mission and vision of the Naperville Park District, evaluation of earlier plans, extensive community input, demographic studies of the Naperville area, including the most recent U.S. Census data, and national standards for park and recreation facilities.
