Élan Dance Company to Perform at Local and Regional Events Oct.-Dec. 2017

The Naperville Park District’s Élan Dance Company  will perform in a variety of venues in late fall 2017, including the Scare-illon on October 28 at the Millennium Carillon, Halloween Happening at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion on October 29, the Fox Valley Dance Showcaseat Waubonsie Valley High School on Nov. 11-12,  the Chicago Toy and Game Fair on Nov. 19 and at Northern Illinois University’s “Art for Life” event at Huntley Middle School on Dec. 9.

Founded in 1996, Élan Dance Company provides affordable, pre-professional dance experience for young dancers and free or low-cost, high quality dance performances for the community. Dancers are placed in one of three performing groups within Élan:  Junior Company, Apprentice Company and Senior Company.

“We’re excited to perform for the community at two free events this weekend,” said Élan’s Artistic Director Kristy Meza.  All three companies will dance at both the Scare-illon and Halloween Happening.

Dances to be presented at the Scare-illon include “That’s Amore” and “River Deep, Mountain High,” choreographed by Stacey Fontechia and “Dead Hands,” choreographed by Lindsay Stein.

Apprentice and Senior Companies will perform in the annual Fox Valley Dance Showcaseat Waubonsie Valley High School on Saturday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 12 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets for the event may be ordered online at showtix4u.com or purchased at the door.

Junior and Apprentice Companies will take the stage at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair at Navy Pier on Sunday, November 19 at 12:00 p.m.

In the final performance of 2017, Senior Company will travel to Huntley Middle School to perform in the “Art for Life” event, coordinated by the dance program at Northern Illinois University on Saturday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m.
