Community Invited to Celebrate Four Playground Reopenings Sept. 12-Oct. 3

The Naperville Park District invites the community to four playground celebrations on four consecutive Tuesdays beginning Sept. 12 and ending Oct. 3. Each of the events will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Neighbors are invited to bring their families and friends to participate in a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, enjoy refreshments and giveaways, and explore the new play equipment.

“These renovated playgrounds, along with nearly 70 other playgrounds throughout Naperville, provide outdoor recreation close to home, and are an important part of the Park District’s annual capital projects,” said Director of Planning Eric Shutes. “Residents helped choose the playground pieces, which are designed to be accessible, safe and fun for all kids.”

The Naperville Park District renovated five playgrounds in 2017, including the playground at Country Lakes Park, which is being officially opened on Wednesday, September 6. The District also contributed toward a cooperative playground being renovated by School District 203 at Ranch View Elementary School. Additionally, the Park District is currently constructing a new playground at Atwater Park, a new park located at 1616 Capeside Drive in northwest Naperville.

Dates and locations of the four planned playground reopening celebrations are as follows:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5:00 p.m. - Columbia Estates Park, located at 968 Monticello Drive

  • Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 5:00 p.m. – Huntington Ridge Park, located at 1523 Culpepper Drive

  • Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 5:00 p.m. – Pembroke Commons, located at 1132 Kenilworth Circle

  • Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 5:00 p.m. – Summerfield Lake. The playground entrance is located at the intersection of Stockton Road and Horncastle Lane.

In the event of inclement weather, the playground celebrations will be rescheduled for the following day. Residents can check the weather cancellations tab for the latest updates at http://www.napervilleparks.org/cancellations.
