On-site tour and photos of Knoch Knolls Park with the new bike bridge
Meet on site with members of the Knoch family on Thursday, June 24 at 9 a.m.
Who: Park District staff will meet with members of the Knoch family, including Jeanne Wehrli, daughter of Judge Win Knoch, former owner of the Knoch Knolls Park property, along with Knoch’s grand children, Annette Wehrli, Grant Wehrli, and others.
What: We will take photos of the family at the new bicycle bridge, followed by an informal tour of Knoch Knolls Park, affectionately known by the Knoch family as “The Farm.” We will learn about some of the structures that were on the property before the Park District took ownership, including the old footbridges, the original Wigwam, the cottage, the playhouse, and the shed.
Where: Knoch Knolls Park parking lot at 336 Knoch Knolls Road.
When: Thursday, June 24 at 9:00 a.m.
Why: Knoch Knolls Park is one of the largest natural areas in our park system, with a local family heritage. With the new bicycle path and bridge soon to be open, the Park District wanted to learn more about the history of “The Farm” that is now a park for all to enjoy.
