Forestry Internship
Date Available: May 26th – August 30th
Hours: 40 per week
Salary: $10/ hour
Responsibilities:
. Primary responsibility will be to assist the Parks Maintenance Crew in the implementation and maintenance of a tree inventory program utilizing database software.
. Additional responsibilities include participation in all aspects of park maintenance including tree planting, pruning, removals and pest/disease management. May also perform assignments in natural resource management including prairie restoration tasks, assisting with the District's prescribed burn program, and other duties as assigned.
Specific Skills Required
. Capable of performing tree identification.
. Comfortable working alone and outdoors for extended periods.
Hours/Misc:
. Primarily daytime weekday, with occasional weekend hours.
Requirements:
. Completion of two years toward a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Horticulture, Geography, or related field.
. Must be at least 18 years old with a valid Drivers License.
. Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, reach, walk, sit, kneel, or stand for long periods of time.
. Subject to outside extreme environmental conditions (ie: sun, heat).
. Ability to work in a team environment, communicate ideas clearly and work independently as needed.
. Highly reliable and responsible; will work in the field with little supervision.
. Attention to detail and well organized.
. Able to lift heavy weight (75lbs.) objects.
