Youth Ambassadors

Background:

In 1999, the Naperville Park District's Board of Commissioners authorized the development of the Youth Ambassadors Program for the Naperville Park District.

Purpose

This program was developed to examine the needs of our high school-aged youth as they relate to the Naperville Park District's mission. The group also would provide the area youth with a voice and forum to make recommendations to the Park Board of Commissioners and staff. As a result of the Youth Ambassadors Program, several special events and athletic activities/competitions have been developed and met with overwhelming approval from the community at large.

Mission Statement

As Youth Ambassadors, we will strive to actively involve the high school students of Districts 203 and 204 and private or parochial schools, with positive activities in a safe environment. Special functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assessment/Planning - To organize and assist with programs of all types that will benefit the youth of the area.
  • Advocacy - To serve as an advisory committee on youth affairs to local government to promote community awareness of the needs of youth and to serve as a line of communication between youth and adults as well as among the youth.
  • Collaboration - To foster cooperation among existing youth and government.
