Freedom of Information Act

The Freedom of Information Act is the principal Illinois statutory enactment governing the inspection of public records. The Act is of relatively recent origin having become effective on July 1, 1984. It provides a detailed description of those records that are “public records” that generally must be disclosed as well as a detailed list of records that may be withheld from inspection and copying.

In August 2004, the Naperville Park District adopted Ordinance #593 – An Ordinance for Process and Procedure for Responding to Freedom of Information Act Requests. This ordinance states the guidelines for requesting information from the district.
