Mike King

Mike King, a Naperville resident for more than 40 years, was elected to his first term as a Naperville Park District commissioner in April 2017.

Mike graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BS in Consumer Affairs and also earned an MBA from Aurora University in Leadership. He currently works as an energy efficiency program manager for Nicor Gas. His former career was in real estate as part of a family business in Naperville.

Mike joins the Park Board with a desire to give back to his home community that has provided lifelong friends and memories.  As a former real estate agent, Mike frequently heard new residents ask about the parks and what activities were available for families. Driving through neighborhoods, prospective home buyers would comment on the high quality of the parks. Mike believes that the Naperville Park District is important both to new and current residents and that strategic planning is needed to keep pace with the recreation needs of the community.

Mike’s involvement in the community includes coaching football, currently at Benet Academy and formerly at Sts. Peter and Paul School. He is an advisory board member for KidsMatter and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Mike believes that his most significant accomplishment is coaching youth football with a great group of coaches, players and families.
