Jim Ensign, a Naperville resident since 1988, was elected to his first term as a Naperville Park District commissioner in April 2015. Jim brings to the Park Board a wealth of experience as a parks and recreation professional as well as many years of community involvement.
After earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in recreation program management, Jim spent 25+ years working in the field of parks and recreation. In fact, a job as facility coordinator for Aquatics, Winter Sports and Concessions first brought him to Naperville in 1987.
He is now an independent consultant in information technology; however, he continues to be involved in community recreation as a participant and volunteer.
Jim’s community involvement includes coordinating a variety of youth sports, serving various boards including the Sunrise Rotary and volunteering for community projects like DuPage Pads and the St. Paddy’s Day 5k.
Jim joins the Park Board with a desire to help ensure that residents get the best value for their tax dollar. He believes that the Naperville Park District is a key catalyst for building community while enhancing residents’ health and quality of life while stewarding invaluable community land, facilities and resources.
Jim and his wife are proud parents of three young adult children.
